Leah Cunningham Pouw is the proud parent of two teenagers who grew up in Chicago Public Schools. Leah has been active in the Wildwood community, serving on Wildwood's Local School Council and Park Advisory Council, and has led their Girl Scouts troop.
Leah has led interactive community activities to pick new playground equipment at Wildwood Park and identify areas of strength and growth for the Wildwood school's five-year plan.
When she's not working, Leah volunteers, bakes bread, explores the outdoors, and enjoys her hometown's neighborhoods, food, and arts.

Dr. Brenda Lee Anderson is a nationally recognized educator and education policy expert whose experiences mirror those of most Chicago Public Schools students, families, and communities. They are running a people-powered campaign to represent District 6A on Chicago’s first-ever fully elected school board. Classified joined the race pro bono to help build a grassroots campaign that reflects the need for grassroots-funded campaigning.
Dr. Anderson is a first-generation high school graduate (the first in their family of 6 children to graduate). During K-12, they attended neighborhood public schools, a charter school (that was closed down!), and briefly attended a parochial school while in foster care. After high school, they earned a bachelor's and then a master's, which launched their career as an educator.
Schools have served as a haven and a place of possibility for Dr. Anderson to explore, learn, and grow—they wouldn’t have gotten a whole PhD otherwise! They believe public schools can transform lives, just as education has transformed theirs. So, they’ll bring that vision as a Chicago Public Schools Board Member representing District 6A.
